The Kent, Washington, Turkey Challenge has collected almost $3,000 and 200 pounds of food after two weeks.
Torklift Central, a towing supplier, and Kent United Methodist Church teamed up to organize this year’s drive. The crusade, in its 12th annual go-around, kicked off Sept. 29 and is scheduled to end Nov. 3.
A local resident who asked to remain anonymous contributed $2,000 to the cause, according to Torklift. The donor said, “It is great to be able to give back to this community that I call home.”
On Nov. 6, all donations will be delivered to the Kent Food Bank, which will join other local groups in distributing funds.
