This week’s announcement of the 2021 Living Vehicle travel trailer generated buzz among fans of electric vehicles and clean technology. The off-grid, solar-powered RV comes with up to 3,080 watts of solar panels.
“Due to the sheer size of the solar system and energy packs,” Living Vehicle’s marketing copy says, “the LV Energy System is capable to power the air conditioner completely off grid—indefinitely.”
That massive solar capability comes with an equally massive price tag: $369,995 base price for the top-of-the-line Living Vehicle PRO. Living Vehicles collaborated with Volta Power Systems to create the RV’s solar setup.
“We can provide more energy than traditional shore power,” Volta Power Systems CEO Jack Johnson said in the video. “They can run bigger, heavier loads than you can do on shore power.”
Living Vehicle Co-founder Matthew Hofmann said, “The 2021 Living Vehicle represents a major leap forward. Some of the stuff wasn’t possible even a couple of years ago—even last year.”
