The National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) has hired Laura Stewart to fill the academy’s newly established role as student advisor.
Stewart is a native of Louisiana who will serve as the first contact point at the Big Red Schoolhouse. Her responsibility is to those seeking class information to become NRVTA registered or certified RV technicians, as well as inspectors certified by the National RV Inspectors Association.
Stewart’s specialties are answering students’ questions and explaining the pathways to attain various credentials, as well as scheduling an individual’s classes so they can complete training on their own time.
“It’s also my job to work with students to set up appropriate payment plans, work with their schedules and, most importantly, guide them toward their new career path,” Stewart stated.
The academy offers many different required courses at multiple times during the quarter, Stewart stated, so the process can be confusing to students. Her job is to set up a plan.
“My goal is to take the mystery out of the process and get students successfully plugged into our programs,” Stewart stated.
An influx of interest in training options at the school prompted the new position, Big Red Schoolhouse Administrator Evada Cooper stated.
“We have been fielding nearly a dozen calls a day from prospective students and the staff felt it was important to hire a dedicated advisor to advocate on behalf of the students,” Cooper stated. “Laura is just the type of organized people-person we need to help get students started on a new career quickly.”
