RV Retailer, LLC (RVR) recently acquired 14 dealerships in five states, putting the business at 54 locations across 15 states.
Growth accelerated in 2020 to more than double the dealer’s size. RV Retailer announced during the year it would acquire 29 new locations.
“The current markets are some of the largest in the U.S.,” said Jon Ferrando, RVR’s CEO and president. “Texas, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, and North Carolina are perennially in the top 10.”
RVR’s most recent acquisitions include Northgate RV’s two dealerships and Family RV’s 12 in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia. These acquisitions are expected to close in February.
Brothers Steve and Chuck Jung will continue managing Family RV Groups stores under the direction of Don Strollo, president of RVR’s eastern region. The Yates family, who founded Northgate RV 26 years ago, will stay on in key positions.
Though the acquisition process differs for each dealership, Ferrando said RVR works with owners to fit their needs, “whether they want to continue with the business or retire as we help write the next chapter for their business. We invest a lot of time with the owners to ensure every outcome is a win-win.”
Ferrando said acquisitions occur at the owners’ speeds, sometimes coming together quickly and sometimes occurring after three-year-long discussions.
“We are off to a great start in 2021 and will be very focused on transitioning those dealerships into RV Retailer in a world-class way,” Ferrando said. “While we do not set targets for number of acquisitions, we will continue to be opportunistic and take advantage of great opportunities to grow.”
