Chicago-based Resonado Labs, an audio technology startup originating from the University of Notre Dame, announced its proprietary speaker technology will be introduced to the RV industry.

The company’s flagship Flat Core Speaker (FCS) will be implemented in Airstream’s 2022 Touring Coach models. A company official said the move represented the first FCS technology application in an established consumer product line.

“Having started our company in South Bend, Indiana, the first industry we really engaged with was the RV industry because of the physical proximity to Elkhart,” co-founder and CEO Brian Youngil Cho said. “With RV as our beachhead market, we were able to gather unique insights that we have been able to apply to now active projects in both the automotive and home audio industries. And it is a privilege to debut our technology in Airstream, one of the most iconic American brands in existence today.”

Resonado Labs partnered with consumer electronics distributor RiverPark, which supplies audio products to the RV industry, to assist with design assembly and distribution.

“We are excited to work with Resonado Labs on this launch, and sincerely believe that this will mark a significant milestone by signaling a change of design expectations at the intersection of the audio and RV industries,” RiverPark President Steve Bollero said.

Resonado Labs said FCS has a slim shape and flat diaphragm, which caters to a growing demand across industries for high-performance, yet space-efficient, audio products.

“FCS technology is hitting the market at a time when everything is becoming sleeker, more efficient and increasingly immersive,” the company stated. “It is challenging the ubiquity of the century-old conventional conical speaker type, whose form is recognized globally as the volume icon.”

FCS technology packs larger sound into a smaller space, the company stated. The custom speakers seamlessly integrate into RVs with what Resonado Labs said is an unobtrusive design that occupies minimal real estate.

Resonado Labs’ speaker system details are slated to be unveiled later this year.
