Monthly Wholesale RV Unit Shipments to Dealerships
The RV Industry Association (RVIA) compiles and tracks how many new RV units each RV manufacturer makes and ships to RV dealers on a monthly basis. The wholesale shipment report breaks down RV vehicles by unit category in aggregate to avoid any RV manufacturer’s specific production numbers being released.

2021 Monthly Wholesale New Unit Reports
Results from RVIA’s December 2021 survey of manufacturers determined 2021 wholesale RV shipments totaled a record 600,240, surpassing the 2017 total of 504,599 shipments by 19%.
December 2021 RV shipments ended with 40,347 units, a decrease of (-0.1%) compared with the 40,382 units shipped during December 2020.
Total RV shipments for 2021 increased 39.5% over the 430,412 units shipped in 2020. Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended 2021 up 39.6% against 2020 with 544,028 wholesale shipments. Motorhomes finished the year up 37.8% compared to 2020 with 56,212 units.

Results for the RVIA’s November 2021 survey of manufacturers found a total of 49,135 RV shipments, a new November record.
November shipments increased 15.6% compared with the 42,513 units shipped during November 2020, the previous November record.

RVIA’s October 2021 survey of manufacturers determined RV shipments totaled 57,971 units, an increase of 22.5% compared with the 47,326 units shipped during October 2020.
Through October, manufacturers shipped 510,608 units in 2021. The previous annual record of 504,599 was set in 2017.
The October 2021 total is the best on comparable record, with shipments surpassing the October 2017 total of 48,926 units by more than 18%.

RVIA’s September 2021 survey of manufacturers found total RV shipments ended the month with 55,014 units, an increase of 32.2% compared with the 41,600 units shipped during September 2020.
September’s shipments were the most recorded in a single month, topping March’s 54,291 shipments.

RVIA’s August 2021 survey of manufacturers determined total RV shipments ended the month with 52,819 units, an increase of 33.8% compared with the 39,489 units shipped during August 2020.
The 52,819 shipments recorded last month set a new monthly record for August and is the second most units to be shipped in any single month, behind only March 2021.

RVIA’s July 2021 survey of manufacturers determined total RV shipments ended the month with a new record for July wholesale RV shipments.
The 44,537 units shipped increased 3.5% compared with the 43,035 units shipped during July 2020.

RVIA’s June 2021 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 50,706 units, an increase of 25.3% compared with the 40,462 units shipped during June 2020.
The June shipment total was the best June figure on record, topping June 2017’s 47,416 shipments by 7%.

RVIA’s May 2021 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 49,241 units, the best May wholesale shipment total on record.
May 2021 shipments increased 75.9% compared with the 27,999 units shipped during May 2020, the first month back for the RV industry following pandemic shutdowns.

RVIA’s April 2021 manufacturer survey found total RV shipments ended the month with 51,813 units, the most for any April on record. April’s total was more than 9% more than the previous record set in April 2018.
April 2021 total shipments represent a 619.9% over the 7,197 shipped last April, when pandemic shutdowns began.

RVIA’s February 2021 manufacturers survey found a 30.1 percent increase in total RV shipments compared with February last year.
The month finished with 48,286 shipped units, marking what the association stated is the highest February total on comparable record.

The RV Industry Association’s January 2021 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 45,930 units, an increase of 39.2 percent compared with the 33,003 units shipped during January 2020, making this the best January shipment total on comparable record.
