Road Tripping Highlighted in Storytelling Project

Underrepresented voices in outdoor spaces will be heard through a new storytelling project launched by Togo Group’s planning tool Roadtrippers.

The company’s “Voices from the Road” aims to amplify road tripping aspects, including the “non-Instagram friendly” situations.

“One of our goals with Voices from the Road is to help democratize road tripping and remove any gatekeeping around who gets to travel and have their voice heard,” Roadtrippers Editor-in-Chief Sanna Boman said.

Road trips often are depicted with familiar views from picture-perfect locations, the company stated, but often do not show the “full story.” Vehicles break down, travelers get lost or hungry and the weather does not always cooperate, Roadtrippers stated.

“Amazingly, it is often during these difficult situations that the real memories are made,” Roadtrippers stated. “To understand what road travel is really all about, it is important to hear from travelers from all kinds of backgrounds.”

Voices from the Road’s first published stories include escaping Oregon wildfires, facing fears when driving up steep or narrow mountain passes and moving cross-country in a vintage RV.

“Last year, Roadtrippers users planned more than 3 million road trips, spanning 2 billion total miles,” Boman said. “That is 3 million potential stories about the ups, downs, joys, frustrations, adventures and unexpected experiences that any road trip brings with it – and we want to hear those stories.”

The Togo Group company has been recognized as an authority in road travel through its editorial content. Those interested can find out more about Roadtrippers and Voices from the Road here.
