RVIA Details Avid RVers

RVIA continued its look at demographic breakdowns from the Go RVing RV Owner Demographic Profile this week. The latest of the seven clusters identified to be detailed by RVIA is Avid RVers.

RVIA said Avid RVers make up 6% of total RV users. The group is an older demographic, with 62% over the age of 55 and nearly half (48%) retired. More than three-quarters (78%) do not have children living with them at home.

The majority of Avid RVers prefer to hit the road in the summer (89%) or fall (77%), RVIA said, and stay at private campgrounds, state parks and private lands and campsites.

Most people in the category tend to RV to unwind, visit a location with natural beauty and spend time outdoors, RVIA said. As they are out, Avid RVers enjoy participating in outdoor sports, pursuing an interest and golfing.

RVIA noted the report broke the segment into two subcategories, Hit the Road and Pump the Brakes. Members of the first group show interest in exploring and searching for new destinations. Those in the Pump the Brakes segment prefer to relax and use RVs as a vacation from the outside world, RVIA said.
