The United States Postal Service awarded a $53 million contract to The Shyft Group’s Utilimaster. The contract is for 447 truck bodies to be used for bulk mail delivery.

The Shyft Group is Spartan RV Chassis’ parent company.

Utilimaster previously secured a $214 million, multi-year contract from USPS for more than 2,000 vehicles. That order was completed in 2019’s third quarter.

The USPS units will be built on both cab-over and cab-behind chassis, featuring 18- and 24-feet long bodies. The order is expected to be manufactured during the second quarter of 2022 and will be completed in 2023.

“Our quality and experience are what makes Utilimaster a leader in the delivery space,” said Chad Heminover, president of the Shyft Fleet vehicles and services.
