Keystone RV has begun manufacturing operations in a new plant and increased its capacity for the Cougar brand. This is Keystone’s fourth dedicated Cougar plant, three at the company’s Goshen, Indiana campus, and one in Pendleton, Oregon.
The new facility will add more than 150 new jobs in Elkhart County.
Demand for Cougar models surged after a 2020 redesign, Keystone RV stated, along with recent increased market demand. The new plant was scheduled to open last year but was delayed by pandemic challenges.
“The addition of this new plant will substantially increase capacity for both fifth wheels and travel trailers,” said Scott Taylor, Keystone RV product manager, “so that we can shorten lead times of pre-sold units that have already been ordered by our dealers and put us back in a stocking position sooner.”
Cougar debuted in 1998 and has been among the most popular mid-profile fifth wheels and laminated travel trailers on the market. This model year, the brand will reach yet another milestone by producing its 200,000th unit.
