RMS North America recently released its 2022 State of the Industry Report.
RMS surveyed travelers about their 2022 plans and analyzed data from the travel industry, RVIA and the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. The report focused on industry recovery post-Covid.
Analysis revealed that new RV owners are driving camping growth after the industry’s biggest shipment year. “After making such a large investment, RV owners want to make sure they get their money’s worth,” RMS stated.
Travelers are taking local trips, the report found, with 48% planning to spend more time traveling within 300 miles of their homes and 59% planning to travel only domestically. More travelers, 48%, plan to take road trips than last year and 4% plan to stay at a campground, the report stated.
RMS predicts average trip spending will surpass 2019 levels. “The desire for travel is high, but guests will stick close to home and visit more local destinations,” RMS stated. “However, that doesn’t mean they will be pinching pennies as travel spending will increase as people treat themselves to much-needed time off.”
