Ford Motor Co., the predominant supplier of gas Type A motorhome chassis to the RV industry, announced another plant shutdown next week. The automaker said the Flat Rock Assembly Plant shutdown will occur because of continuing semiconductor chip shortages.

“The global semiconductor shortage continues to affect Ford’s North American plants,” the automaker stated. “Behind the scenes, we have teams working on how to maximize production, with a continued commitment to building every high-demand vehicle for our customers with the quality they expect. All of our North American plants will run the week of April 4, except Flat Rock Assembly Plant.”

The news follows March shutdowns at Kentucky and Ohio plants and February shutdowns affecting eight manufacturing plants.

The Flat Rock Assembly Plant started manufacturing the 2022 Ford Mustang in January, Marketwatch reported, but been halted multiple times this year because of supply-chain constraints.
