Indiana health officials halted the use of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine around the state April 13 after federal officials recommended a “pause” in its use to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots, according to the Associated Press.

The Indiana Department of Health stated it was switching the mass vaccination clinic being held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to the two-shot Moderna vaccine. The department added an updated statement Tuesday afternoon that the clinic would continue as scheduled through April 18.

The health department stated it was “encouraging other clinics around the state to use existing doses of Pfizer or Moderna if available to fulfill previously scheduled J&J appointments.”
