Xponent Power’s solar awning has been named the German Innovation Award winner by the German Design Council for Excellence in Business to Business (B2B) in the Energy Solutions innovation category.
Xponent Power’s Xpanse is a compact and retractable 1,200-watt solar awning that deploys at a button touch, enabling energy independence on the go, Xponent Power said.
“We are extremely honored and proud to be recognized by the prestigious German Design Council for Xpanse,” Xponent CEO Rohini Raghunathan said. “This award is a testament to the tremendous cross-functional innovation that went into the development of Xpanse and its value to consumers. Our technology enables unprecedented levels of solar power for RVs, and we envision the platform enabling a wide range of additional applications such as military, emergency relief, and residential power.”
Established in 1953 by the German Bundestag, the German Design Council’s mission is to recognize products and solutions that distinguish themselves primarily by their user-centricity and added value compared to earlier solutions.
Entries for the German Innovation Award were judged by an international jury comprised of leading experts from industry, science, institutions, and the financial sector. The submissions were evaluated according to innovation level, user benefits and economic viability.
As reported by RV News, Xponent Power launched Xpanse into the market in Q4 2021. Xponent Power has been taking pre-orders online. According to Xponent Power, the company has seen tremendous interest from RV dealers, OEMs and consumers.
