Yoshino Technology is launching its first solid-state technology (SST) battery in 330-, 660-, 2,000- and 4,000-watt power stations. The portable power stations are built around a solid electrolyte in place of the liquid electrolyte found in traditional lithium batteries, the company said.

According to Vince Caito, Yoshino Technology’s vice president of marketing and product development, the portable power station category has grown quickly in the past few years. Powering the stations with a solid-state battery has several advantages, he said.

“There is no liquid. It is a solid electrolyte which is safer. (The solid electrolyte) eliminates flammability and fires are almost nil,” Caito said. “There are no fumes. Plus, the technology is silent and light. That is a huge advantage in this category. It is half the weight of a competitor’s power station.”

SST batteries also charge more quickly, up to 80% capacity in under an hour, he said.

The company’s 4,000-watt power station with a 30-amp RV plug can power the electronics a Type B van owner would need, from a generator to a coffee pot and griddle.

Yoshino portable power stations can be recharged using both AC and DC inputs, portable solar panels, and USB-C on supported models. The power stations are made in China and will be available in January 2023.

Southern California-based Yoshino Technology was founded by Kevin Zhou in 2021. For more information, click here
