Campspot, an outdoor marketplace and reservation software provider, said it registered a 130% increase in reservation demand in January of this year from January 2022.
Driving the increase are younger consumers and RVers, the company said. Demand remained strong among frequent consumers and full-time RVers, Campspot said. However, site visits by consumers ages 18-34 rose more than 140% in 2022 from 2021, with the trend continuing in January.
Reservations for 2023 spring months are 35% ahead of 2022’s pace, Campspot said.
“The camping industry has matured significantly, even in the last five years,” said Michael Scheinman, CEO of Campspot. “What was a highly manual process for both campers and campgrounds has only recently been optimized into a convenient online booking experience that today’s younger consumers simply expect.”
During 2022’s peak summer season, Campspot said consumers ages 18-24 were the second-fastest growing segment behind consumers ages 34-44.
