The Forest River Georgetown Gas Class A motorhome division will expand the use of the Firefly multiplex system, an electrical control and monitoring system, into additional 2023 Georgetown models.
The Firefly System was first introduced in the 7 Series Georgetown (GT7) coaches. Georgetown will install the system in the Georgetown 5 Series (GT5) coaches, Firefly Integrations said.
The Georgetown division worked closely with Firefly Integrations to provide consumers with a custom, functional multiplex system, Firefly Integrations said.
“Georgetown’s engineering department had a very methodical process of integrating Firefly’s prototypes from the beginning,” said Brian Dawson, Firefly’s sales representative. “They have such a good understanding of their product and processes which allowed us to listen and build a multiplex system that works exactly how they need it to.”
Consumers can access the Firefly System through a touchscreen at the coach’s entrance, via switches in multiple locations throughout a motorhome and through the Firefly Mira mobile app.
Through the system, Georgetown consumers can monitor and control multiple motorhome functions including leveling jacks, HVAC, lights, logic-based energy management and slides and awnings.
The Firefly System manage
s functions such as load shedding to manage AC and DC loads, including controlling the coach’s inverter and battery bank charging.
“The feature we are most excited about with the Firefly System is the load shedding and energy management that Firefly can provide,” said Mike Hums, Georgetown product manager. “We have never had these features before and it is huge for our owners. The system takes the guesswork out of it and allows owners to just enjoy their motorhome.”
According to Firefly Integrations, the Firefly Systems AC loads are internally circuit protected and will show faults or fault codes for devices connected to the RVC system. This means coach owners do not need to be concerned about energy consumption while turning electrical loads on and off, Firefly said.
