Thor Industries teamed up Tuesday with Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County to build the walls of the future home for the Cole-Chilton family.
The panel build took place Tuesday morning at Thor’s corporate offices, where approximately 50 Thor employees worked alongside future Habitat homeowner Montasia Cole-Chilton.
Volunteers worked in two shifts constructing the home’s interior and exterior walls in the parking lot.
Montasia applied for Habitat’s homeownership program in the fall of 2022 and was accepted this past October. Since then, she has completed 200 sweat equity hours and is saving for her down payment. Montasia is a mother of six and works full-time as a warehouse coordinator at Voyant Beauty.
This is Thor’s fourth year to participate as a panel build sponsor.
“Thor is honored to be a four-time build partner with Habitat for Humanity,” Thor President and CEO Bob Martin said. “Helping to support affordable housing for people in our community is one small way in which we can make an impact in the communities where we work, live and play.”
The Cole-Chilton home will be a two-story home with 1,600 square feet, four bedrooms and 2½ baths.
