Hellwig Suspension Products released a new, adjustable rear sway bar for the 1999-2021 Ford F-53 motorhome chassis.
The product suits chassis 24,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating or higher. The bar is made to improve driver control and safety by reducing body roll and “sharpening” the vehicle’s driving dynamics.
The Ford F-53 motorhome chassis features a ladder-type frame built with e-coated steel. The 1999-2021 Ford F-53 chassis is forged from solid heat-treated chromoly steel.
“The robust construction of the F-53 chassis makes it a popular choice for motorhome manufacturers to build upon,” Hellwig stated.
The chassis is outfitted with a rear sway bar from the factory. Hellwig stated that a Type A motorhome’s high gravity center makes further support necessary to maintain optimal control.
“Hellwig’s rear sway bar mounts in addition to the factory supplied sway bar, significantly increasing load and sway control,” the company stated. “The reduced body roll and enhanced handling characteristics inspire driver confidence, especially when towing or carrying additional weight.”
The Hellwig product kit includes all mounting hardware and end links necessary for installation, in addition to polyurethane bushings for “smooth and quiet” operation. Hellwig stated all steel components are power-coated to prevent corrosion and wear.
