The Boston Red Sox will not be the only visitors at JetBlue Park in Myers, Florida, to start 2024. A month before the baseball team begins spring training, RV dealers and consumers will prep for their camping seasons with the 38th annual Fort Myers RV Show on Jan. 25-28.
The Fort Myers RV Show was held at the Lee County Civic Center for the past 37 years. The new show location at JetBlue Park provides additional layout space compared with the Lee County Civic Center.
Lee County officials debated the Civic Center’s future throughout 2023. The building which housed the Ft. Myers RV Show, gun shows and fairs needs renovation. Although Lee County will address drywall, termite, foundation and water damage issues over the next three to five years, the renovations could not come soon enough for the Florida RV Trade Association (FRVTA).
FRVTA Executive Director Dave Kelly said, “It was the buildings that were in disrepair that made us decide to move the show.”
The Fort Myers show was mostly indoors at the Civic Center, with RVs occupying buildings and some outside areas. By contrast, JetBlue Park will provide outdoor space to host the event.
“We will be in a grass field,” Kelly said, “where we can expand it as big as we need to.”
Displays will be set up in a grass parking lot outside the stadium. Consumers will walk through a tent to access a square of 10 local dealers. The layout will ease mobility throughout the show.
FRVTA used billboards, campground posters and social media to notify the public about the location change. FRVTA anticipates around 9,000-10,000 attendees.
