The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) gained a new partnership in Arkansas. The University of Arkansas’ outdoor products and services program within the university’s department of strategy, entrepreneurship and venture innovation will join ORR.
The University of Arkansas will become an ORR “Preferred Academic Partner.”
The “Education Member” and “Preferred Academic Partner” categories were implemented to develop more collaboration between academic institutions and the outdoor recreation industry. The partnership will provide university leaders and students with ORR network access. This includes recreation associations, outdoor recreation state offices and businesses.
The collaboration will provide students with career experience opportunities.
Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation Director Katherine Andrews said, “We are ecstatic to see outdoor recreation elevated to new heights in education and beyond.”
ORR Vice President of Programs Chris Perkins said the university’s program has made significant industry contributions.
The university launched greenhouse outdoor recreation and outdoor industry incubator programs. University students can receive an outdoor industries certificate or an outdoor leadership minor. The school’s mission is to grow a skilled outdoor recreation industry workforce.
