Crane Composites is expanding its fiberglass sidewall offerings with a premium sidewall providing an automotive-like appearance while reducing weight.
Crane’s Noble Icon sidewall is a composite-backed sheetglass sidewall. The company said the product will maintain a smoother surface appearance over time and features a mirror-quality reflection.
Company Vice President RV Mike Cheney said, “Noble Icon addresses a need in the market for a lightweight sidewall that not only has incredible initial surface appearance but continues to look good over the course of an RV’s life.”
Crane Composites said the new sidewall improves surface appearance by 50% throughout an RV’s lifetime compared with alternative sidewalls.
“Not only does Icon look better,” the company said, “but it also includes impactful weight reduction over the current leading sheetglass for improved fuel economy or cargo capacity.”
Noble Icon’s proprietary formulation was created by Crane’s technical and R&D teams at the company’s R&D center. The sidewall completed testing. Crane said Noble Icon outperformed existing sidewalls in the segment.
The company said, “Crane Composites is excited about the future and what Noble Icon brings to the RV market.”
Crane Composites is a subsidiary of Crane Co. In addition to Noble Icon, Crane makes fiberglass sidewalls under the Filon and Noble brands.
