The RVIA’s State Government Affairs team attended the National Conference of State Legislatures’ 2024 Legislative Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, last week.

The event hosted over 5,300 attendees, including legislators, legislative staff, lobbyists, exhibitors and government affairs professionals from across the country.

During the event, RVIA’s team staffed a booth alongside the National Marine Manufacturers Association. Team members networked with legislators and legislative staff from over 20 states. Along with learning about the RV industry’s priorities, attendees got to view a Type B motorhome.

Michael Ochs, the RVIA’s director of state government affairs, said, “The Summit gives us the opportunity to talk about pressing issues that legislators and legislatures more broadly need to be aware of, such as state franchise laws and the importance of pull-through EV charging infrastructure.”

RVIA said the event also is a kickoff to 2025 legislative session planning.

“Preparing for legislative sessions really kicks off when we attend the Summit,” Ochs said. “We are deciding which states to focus on throughout 2025 and then we make the effort to meet with those legislators while we are here. This helps us be ready in January when legislative sessions begin by identifying partners to work with in specific states; we can then continue to build those relationships during the legislative sessions.”
