In 1924, Eugene Prevost crafted a vehicle with a wooden coach body mounted atop a vintage REO truck chassis in Sainte-Claire, Quebec, Canada. Over the past century, Prevost vehicles have transformed into Type A luxury motorhomes.
The manufacturer recently held an anniversary event to celebrate 100 years in business. Prevost customers, employees, government officials and suppliers gathered in Sainte-Claire on Sept. 14.
Prevost and Volvo Group Canada President François Tremblay said, “The success of Prevost is due to our committed employees and loyal customers–many of whom have been with us for generations. The anniversary is an opportunity to recognize them while honoring the legacy of Eugene Prevost.”
The event featured factory tours and Prevost museum visits. Employees hand-built a replica of the wooden-body vehicle Prevost had crafted in 1924.
According to the company, Prevost’s grandson André Turmel, dreamed about recreating the original vehicle. The team built the replica and named it Clarisse to honor Prevost’s wife.
Before the anniversary celebration, Prevost consumers gathered at the 100th anniversary Homecoming Rally from Sept. 8-14.
