EXCLUSIVE: Towable Manufacturer Revamps Vehicle Interiors

After a quarter century of crafting functional and durable aluminum-welded towable RVs, the ATC Trailers team decided it was time to give the vehicles a residential face-lift. The new Plā 550 travel trailer toy hauler and Plā 750 fifth wheel toy hauler models are the manufacturer’s revamped versions of its Plā 700 trailers.

According to ATC Marketing Operations Manager Kaylie Miller many RVers could not envision themselves feeling at home in the industrial and garage-like ATC interiors.

Miller said, “The big thing with these models was getting more of that residential, homey feel and appealing to more of a skeptical partner.”

The team set to outfit the trailer with residential features while maintaining its all-aluminum and no-wood construction.

ATC’s industrial interiors were transformed with elements such as shaker-style aluminum cabinets. The cabinetry comes in residential colors including Sage Green, Sandstone Gray and Nautical Blue. Cabinet doors include soft-close features and brushed-gold handles. Adjustable shelving provides flexible storage options.A picture of ATC's Pla 750 4419 fifth wheel toy hauler interior.

A commercial-grade vinyl flooring covers the floor in a wood grain design. Previously, the floor was aluminum with a carpet option. Recessed and accent lighting illuminates the interior to create a softer appearance.

Previous Plā 700 models included open floorplans with minimal room division. The new models include dedicated bedroom areas. Pocket doors slide into the RV’s walls to eliminate door collisions.

All appliances are stainless steel. Interior black trim replaced its mill-finished predecessor.

The Plā 550 and Plā 750 include the company’s LifeTrac feature. The concept, introduced in February 2023, enables consumers to rearrange furniture around the vehicle. Adjustable accessories including cabinets, dinettes, helmet racks, sofas, tables and wall hooks detach from the walls to move into the consumers’ desired setup.

The Plā 550 has a 13,200-pound GVWR. The model’s four floorplans range from 30-foot to 38-foot lengths. The travel trailer’s bath features a porcelain toilet and a 28-inch by 36-inch shower. A 15,000 BTU air conditioner and a 24,000 BTU furnace are included. The kitchen features a 12-volt, 10-cubic foot refrigerator, a convection microwave and a two-burner propane cooktop. The RV includes a 100-gallon freshwater tank, a 45-gallon black water tank and a 45-gallon gray water tank.

The Plā 750’s three floorplans range from 16,800-pound to 21,000-pound GVWRs. The vehicles’ lengths are between 37 feet and 45 feet long. The fifth wheel’s bath includes a 30-inch by 48-inch shower with glass doors, a spa/jet shower fixture and a porcelain toilet. The kitchen is outfitted with a 12-volt, 15-cubic foot refrigerator, a convection microwave and a three-burner propane cooktop. The RV’s cooling system includes three 15,000 BTU air conditioners with heat pumps and soft start technology. A 35,000 BTU furnace is included. The fifth wheel has a 100-gallon freshwater tank, a 90-gallon gray water tank and a 45-gallon black water tank.

Miller said the company received its desired response from consumers who noted the trailers’ beauty. Dealers also exhibited positive feedback during Elkhart Extravaganza.

The Plā 550 will be available in four floorplans, while the Plā 750 will come in three. ATC has begun production and is currently accepting orders for both models.
