Each year, RV manufacturers fill vehicles with dozens of details to attract consumers. ITC, an OEM lighting, power and accessory supplier, introduced a new feature to enhance convenience in RVs.
The company revealed its Rise Wireless Pocket Charger, enabling manufacturers to provide wireless charging amenities in their creations. The pocket charger can be installed horizontally or vertically on surfaces including furniture, dinettes or dashes. For seamless integration, the charger offers a flush installation finish with a 5.6-inch depth to accommodate most phone sizes.
ITC West Coast Account Manager Darryl Lanier said “Many customers don’t carry charging cords, making Rise a convenient, user-friendly solution in any RV.”
A rubber insert near the charging station holds the phone in place. Lanier said the insert was included to address feedback the supplier received about difficulty keeping the phone still. The insert is removable for cleaning.
The 1-amp charger has a 15-watt charging capacity. Rise’s Ingress Protection (IP)65 rating protects the device from moisture. Lanier said the product includes security features to ensure that phones are not overamped or overcharged. The device can sense when objects other than a phone, such as a gum wrapper, are in the charger and thus will not work.
According to Lanier, various manufacturers expressed interest in the product nationwide. He said the company anticipates shipping orders by year’s end.
“Wireless charging options in vehicles are just beginning to make an appearance,” Lanier said, “and Rise is ahead of the trend, offering easy installation, visual charging feedback and quick charging for the end user.”
