In June, eight Colorado high school juniors and seniors attended an RV Technical Institute (RVTI) Level 1 training session.

RVTI, Windish RV Center and Littleton Public Schools united to bring the course to the school district’s Explorative Pathways for Innovative Careers (EPIC) campus. EPIC provides immersive learning experiences for high school students in fields including aerospace, construction trades and health sciences.

The summer program’s Level 1 course introduced students to the seven RV systems: appliances, body, chassis, electrical, generator, plumbing and propane.

RVTI Senior Manager of Recruitment Justin Rickett said, “This partnership exemplifies the growing importance of skilled trades education. We are not only helping to address the critical shortage of RV technicians but also providing students with valuable skills and career opportunities.”

The program materialized when Windish RV Center President Whitney Holtz conversed with EPIC about filling technician workforce needs.

Holtz said, “It is a great opportunity for high school students to learn about a career that is in high demand and receive the training they need to jumpstart their career.”

EPIC Campus Construction Trades Instructor Marc Finer attended an RVTI Level 1 course in Indiana to prepare. The school plans to develop the program into a semester-long course by 2025.

EPIC Campus Principal Travis Amonson said, “The EPIC Campus is grateful for industry partners like Windish RV Center and the RVTI, who are considering new ways to find incredible employees.”
