Motorized RV Auction Wholesale Values Dip

Black Book’s RV Market Commentary for December recorded some of the lowest motorhome values captured in the past few years. While towable values increased 1.5%, motorhome values dropped 4.3%.

Black Book Specialty Vehicles Principal Automotive Analyst Eric Lawrence said the motorized value drops reflected significantly fewer Type A motorhomes going through the auction process. Still, he said, “the prices were still some of the lowest we have seen for the past several years.”

The motorhome average selling price in October was $54,243, down $11,730 compared with September. The segment’s average price has dipped below $54,300 only three times since August 2020. One year ago, the motorhome average selling price was $63,812. In October, the average motorhome model year sold was 2016.

Towables averaged $19,062, up $326 compared with September. One year ago, the average towable sold for $18,941. October’s average model year sold was 2020.
