Nearly three and a half years after launching a strategy to reduce energy waste companywide, Jayco completed the initiative’s first phase.

The manufacturer has partnered with Tactical Energy Group since June 2021 to achieve energy waste and cost reductions. Over that time, the company’s Middlebury, Indiana, campus gained a 1-megawatt solar system, a Virtual Energy Manager (VEM) system and underwent a complete retrofit to install LED lights.

Tactical Energy Group’s VEM is a system of technologies and best practices to manage a business’ energy. The system supports businesses’ energy efficiency planning and implementation, renewable energy integrations, and staff training.

Jayco Facilities Director Scott Myers said the additions provided insight into energy uses across the campus. The results include a 50% reduction in energy waste, a 23% reduction in total kilowatt hours used and an overall decrease of 27% in energy use year-over-year.

Myers said the efforts unveiled new methods to cut costs and optimize operations.

He said, “None of these achievements would have been possible without our most powerful tool—our people.”

Phase 2 will focus on enhancing off-grid efficiency. The initiative exemplifies the manufacturer’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

Tactical Energy Group CEO and co-founder Daniel Burke said, “(Jayco’s) commitment to innovation and sustainability is setting a new standard in the RV industry.”
