RV Technical Institute (RVTI) is spreading RV technician knowledge across the industry through a recent partnership. The institute collaborated with the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) to schedule an 8-hour technician training session April 28 in Conroe, Texas.

RVTI Executive Director Curt Hemmeler said park operators are often the first people to assist RVers with technical difficulties.

“This session will teach the basics from RVTI’s gold standard RV technician training curriculum,” Hemmeler said, “and will help get guests safely back on the road and enhance campground customer service.”

The course will take place the day before the association’s Spring Meeting and Trade Show, scheduled for April 29-30.

TACO CEO Brian Schaffer said, “This is a great opportunity for campground operators to learn more about the technical aspects of RVs as we kick off our annual Campground Owners Meeting and Trade Show. This class will help operators better assist their customers, expand their educational opportunities and provide a better overall camping experience.”

RVTI Director of Education Bill Stewart will guide the hands-on course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Homewood Suites.

Topics include:

  • Basic electricity testing and safety wattage, voltage and amperage.
  • Tripping breakers on a 30-amp trailer, replacing fuses and locating circuit breakers.
  • How to install cable TV and turn off the antenna amplifier, Wi-Fi and satellite signal.
  • Basic water systems.
  • LP system.
  • HVAC, water heater, furnace and refrigerator troubleshooting.
  • Slide out room and awning fixes.
  • Troubleshooting inoperable jacks and landing gear.
  • Chassis, hydraulics and towing.

RVTI hosted a similar training in January in partnership with the Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
