Colorado Campervan, a supplier providing customizable pop tops, launched pop-top bedroom for flat-roof, enclosed trailers under the Dual Sport Trailers brand.
The pop-tops ship as a complete component to an OEM, ready to install. The top lifts electronically and features a large, 12 feet by 7 feet sleeping area with six vinyl windows. The electronic lift is powered by a 12-volt battery with a solar recharge system. The battery also recharges via the tow vehicle’s electrical cable.
The tri-layer windows have insulated black-out canvas, a clear vinyl layer and a removable screen mesh. The pop-top is available without a shell or in other partial forms when an OEM prefers to use their own colors or materials.
Colorado Campervan has produced pop tops for vans but wanted to expand to enclosed trailers. Colorado Campervan owner Derek Weber said he wanted to create a small footprint trailer that could fit a family of four and their motorcycles.
“I realized a cargo trailer can meet all those needs if we move the sleeping area to the top,” Weber said. “The sleep on top design created the storage I wanted, plus a sleeping area for four, all in a 16-foot trailer.”
An interior entrance to the bedroom is cut on the trailer’s roof.
Colorado Campervan Director of Sales Chris Gorski said, “This redefines toy hauling, stow and stay trailer. By moving the sleeping area to the roof, toys stow safely inside. Family sleeps well away from the garage and the associated motor-related odors.”
