It seems with the coronavirus all over the news, the value of most everything has decreased in recent weeks.
Current events are impacting both the wholesale and retail side of the RV business. All segments declined last month, with motorized seeing the biggest drop. That was expected due to the unusually high wholesale values Black Book saw two months ago.
Black Book Principal Automotive Analyst, Specialty Vehicles Eric Lawrence said those figures were most likely exaggerated by the low volume that had run through the auctions.
Taking a closer look at the markets, Black Book reports the average selling price for motorized units was $43,854, which is down $7,762 (15.1 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $14,462, down $350 (2.3 percent) from last month. A year ago, the average motor home sold for $41,846 and the average towable unit brought $12,832.
Auction volume was up quite a bit in February. Motorhome auction volume jumped 51.5 percent while towables rose 30.5 percent.
The average age of motorized and towable units sold at auction in February was seven years old, with 2013 models representing the majority of units sold.
