New Houston RV Resort Hopes to Capitalize on Summer RV Travel and Long-Term Stays

For Bayou City businessmen and longtime friends Eric Houston and Jay Fields, realizing their dream of bringing a stylish and playful spin on the typical RV resort to Houston couldn’t have been more timely. The debut of Eric & Jay’s RV Resort – located at 2935 Lockcrest Street just a few miles south of the city’s famed Texas Medical Center and Museum District – aligns with skyrocketing RV sales and rentals in response to the new realities of travel.

“Our goal for this endeavor has been two-fold: creating a passion project that would tap into our shared interests while filling a niche in an underserved market,” said Fields, whose investment portfolio under the Fields Companies moniker includes real estate, hospitality and film projects. He added, “With our flagship RV resort, we not only hope to create a distinctive and memorable experience for short and long-term visitors, including Texas Medical Center staff, patients and their families, but also add to the appeal of Houston as a drive through destination for discerning RV travelers.”

To bring their vision for a next-level concept to life, the duo tapped mutual friend and acclaimed Texas-based designer Renea Abbott to infuse her refined, relaxed, and eclectic signature touch throughout the property’s built-from-the-ground-up clubhouse. Fashioned in a modern farmhouse style by Scott Palermo of s+P Architecture, the 3,300-square-foot structure incorporates a check-in area and sundries shop, seating vignettes, game room with coffee bar, fitness center, business center with two office spaces, laundry facility, and individual, spa-like shower rooms.

“To capture a modern Texas Hill Country retro vibe, we utilized a warm and welcoming color palette along with playful, unexpected design elements,” said Abbott.

The fully fenced, 10-acre property is anchored by the well-appointed clubhouse and a pool terrace with jacuzzi, plus an adjacent gazebo grilling and dining area, overlooking a central green space with pond stocked for fishing.

Surrounding the pond and lining the tree-framed site with skyline views are 114 landscaped slips, ranging from 30-foot back in and 40-foot extended length to luxury pull through options. Starting at $56 per night with long-term pricing available, each slip is outfitted with a picnic table and full hookups offering water, sewer, and pedestals with 50-, 30- and 20-amp power plus a data fiber connection.

General Manager Don Wilson – an industry veteran who has run high-profile RV resorts in California and Texas – will soon be launching comprehensive programming calendar for guests to round out additional amenities that include a secure, monitored entry, propane fill station, Wi-Fi, and daily shuttle service to the Texas Medical Center.

“While we’re excited about what guests will find within this friendly, picturesque and amenity-laden destination, we’re also eager to introduce Houston – the ‘Culinary and Cultural Capital of the South’ – to travelers with a location that puts visitors in close proximity to an array of local attractions, popular neighborhoods and annual events such as the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, major sports arenas and stadiums, world-class shopping and museums, college campuses, the Houston Zoo, Hermann Park and day trip spots like NASA, Galveston and Clear Lake,” said Houston.

Convenience offerings within walking distance include a gas station, market, liquor store, and barbershop.
