Make-A-Wish Idaho Grants Child’s Wish for an RV Camper in Bonners Ferry

‘Wish Kid’ Christopher of Bonners Ferry, Idaho wished for an RV camper, and that wish was granted by Make-A-Wish Idaho on June 11.

Christopher is 3 years old and has cystic fibrosis. He is a fan of monster trucks and camping. The RV camper is a 2021 Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer, which was co-presented by Blue Dog RV in Post Falls, Idaho this week.

Both Blue Dog RV and Keystone have agreed to defray a significant portion of the cost, as well as provide complimentary upgrades such as hook-ups and ‘camp essential’ items. Blue Dog RV hosted a celebration of the wish at their dealership, located at 714 W Seltice Way, Post Falls, ID 83854 on Thursday.

“We always look forward to participating with Chief Knight and the Make-A-Wish foundation,” said Jim Meeks, Sales Manager- Blue Dog RV. “Our entire team (and community) rallies around this cause which is so special to us, and we can’t wait to see the smiles from Christopher.”

Post Falls Police Chief, Pat Knight, wish granter, RV aficionado and part of Make-A-Wish Idaho’s northern Idaho leadership team, was instrumental in putting this wish together.

“We’re very happy to be granting this wish during these unprecedented times,” Knight said. “I’m excited that Christopher and his family will be able to enjoy this camper over the summer and maybe have a break from all of life’s uncertainty.”

Make-A-Wish Idaho faces a record number of wishes waiting to be granted as a result of the recent need to postpone all wishes that involve travel due to the public and medical concerns of COVID-19. Nearly 80% of all wishes involve travel, and 40 wishes from Make-A-Wish Idaho were impacted with additional wishes being impacted every day.

The challenging circumstances have inspired Make-A-Wish to think creatively about how to bring hope and joy.

“Please join our entire Blue Dog RV Family to help celebrate the day with this special child, as it is a perfect time for the Post Falls community to show Idaho just how proud we all are to participate,” Meeks said earlier this week.

Make-A-Wish Idaho serves children throughout the state with staff in Boise and Pocatello. The organization is dedicated to granting as many wishes as possible and has granted nearly 1,700 wishes since the chapter was founded. Make-A-Wish Idaho is one of 60 chapters in the United States. Visit idaho.wish.org for more information on the Make-A-Wish Idaho Chapter.

Blue Dog RV has dealerships in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Nevada and Pennsylvania.
