Black Book’s RV Market Commentary for August noted an unusual jump in wholesale prices from June auctions.

Motorized wholesale prices averaged $68,756 in June, up 17.7%, or $10,345, from May.

Eric Lawrence, Black Book’s principal analyst – specialty markets, said, “We saw that there were an usually large number of high-end Class As sold last month, which had the effect of raising the average selling price disproportionately.”

Even with the unexpected increase, average motorized prices rose just slightly from $68,405 in June 2023. Motorized auction volume rose 4.8%. The average age of motorized models sold was nine years.

Towable wholesale values differed, Black Book reported.

“After several months of consistency,” Lawrence said, “the values for motorhomes and towables sold at auction diverged this month.”

Towables averaged $19,507 in June, down 1.7% from May 2024 prices. A year ago, towable prices averaged $25,056.

Towable auction volume rose 11.1% from the previous month. The average age of towable RVs sold was five years.
