Black Book has released its January used motorized and towable vehicle values.
The average selling price for motorized RVs in January was $51,616, which is 21.1 percent higher than the previous month and 28.5 percent higher than January 2019.
Average selling prices for towables—including both fifth wheels and travel trailers—in January 2020 was $14,812, which is 2.8 percent lower than the previous month but 13.6 percent higher than January 2019.
The average model year of used RVs sold in January 2020 was 2013 for motorhomes and 2012 for towables. Auction volume for motorhomes was down 31.1 percent from the previous month, while auction volume for towables was only down 1.4 percent.
“The graphs show that the values of motorized units are way up over last month,” said Eric Lawrence, Black Book’s principal analyst for specialty markets. “Although we expect an increase this time of year, the significantly lower auction volume may be skewing the values a bit, so we’ll be anxiously awaiting next month’s numbers to see how they look once the wholesale activity has picked back up.”
