Black Book released its RV Market Commentary for April, revealing mixed trends in auction prices for motorhomes and towables from February to January.

February trends went in a somewhat opposite direction compared with January. While motorhomes values declined, towable values rose.

Eric Lawrence, Black Book principal analyst of specialty markets, said, “Dealers we have spoken to have told us they are stocking up on towables for the expected rush of Spring buyers.”

In February, the average sales price for motorhomes dropped to $54,851, a decrease of 13.4%, or $8,495, from January. The drop marks a shift in the market, as motorhome prices a year ago averaged $55,203.

Towable average sales prices broke a three-month streak of declines. Towables’ average sales prices climbed to $17,660, up 10.9%, or $1,745. Towables’ average sales prices are still lower than the $18,167 average one year ago.

Despite the fluctuating prices, auction volume for both categories showed strong growth in February.

Motorhome auction volume surged by 28.4%, while towable auction volume increased by 16.4%. Lawrence said the uptick in auction activity indicated continued demand, particularly as dealers anticipated a busy spring season.
