California Association Changes Name

CampCalNow RV Park and Campground Alliance will change its name to the California Outdoor Hospitality Association effective Aug. 1.

The association represents California’s campgrounds, RV parks and resorts and has been around for nearly 50 years. Initially called the California Travel Parks Association, it later changed its name to the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds before changing to CampCalNow RV Park and Campground Alliance in 2019.

“We think this change will better reflect the full scope of our government affairs, education and marketing efforts on behalf of the ever-expanding outdoor hospitality industry, which now includes everything from campgrounds and glamping resorts to RV parks and resorts,” California Outdoor Hospitality Association President and CEO Dyana Kelley said.

While California’s outdoor hospitality industry relies on the association to advocate on its behalf at state, federal and local levels, the association said it also regularly organizes educational seminars to help park operators keep up with changing regulations, park improvement, management and guest relations practices.

“Our association is a ‘go-to’ resource for both public and independently owned campgrounds, glamping resorts, RV parks and resorts in California,” Kelley said.

The association hosts online listings of privately owned campgrounds in California, marketing the list through Camp-California.com, the statewide travel planning website. More than 1,500 parks are on the website, many family-owned and operated.

The association is increasingly representing glamping resorts. The resorts feature furnished glamping tents, furnished Airstream trailers and other unique accommodations that are becoming increasingly popular in California and across the country.

“We are actually having discussions with the American Glamping Association on ways for their members to gain access to the services and benefits of our association,” Kelley said.
