Amid economic uncertainties and rising prices, Campspot’s recent survey revealed that many consumers are seeking camping vacations.

The campground booking company concluded that in 2024, most RVers seek calm, relaxation and a break from their everyday routine.

Nearly three-quarters (72%) of respondents reported feeling stressed about economic uncertainty in 2024. Almost three-quarters (73%) said these concerns impacted their travel plans this year.

Nearly all participants (94%) said they planned to camp the same amount or more compared with last summer. This summer, 95% of RVers said they were likely to prioritize relaxation and downtime during their trips.

Nine out of 10 participants reported feeling more relaxed and mentally refreshed after camping compared with other trips. Nearly three-quarters (71%) said camping helps them manage stress better than meditation and 98% said that camping impacts their mental health.

Three out of four RVers became more price-conscious compared with prior years. Cost is the No.1 factor consumers said they considered when booking a campground. Budget averages range between $301 and $500.

Most consumers reported looking forward to lounging/relaxing, campfire gatherings and hiking. More than three-quarters (84%) view camping as a chance to disconnect from daily life stresses, while 16% view camping as adventure and activity-filled.

The company surveyed 2,866 Campspot consumers online between April 23- May 11.
