Care Camps Foundations and Kampgrounds of America (KOA) go together like peanut butter and jelly. The organization’s relationship dates back to 1984, when a group of KOA campground owners began fundraising for pediatric oncology camps.
KOA’s contribution to camps for children with cancer recently reached $20 million. In 2023, KOA contributed more than $1.6 million for Care Camps, supporting 41,000 camp attendees.
KOA helps Care Camps through events such as its KOA Big Weekend, May 10-11. During this event, KOA donates half of the second night of site costs to Care Camps.
Care Camps Executive Director Gwynn Sullivan said KOA’s “unwavering dedication allows us to fulfill our mission of providing transformative camp experiences for these special children.”
Care Camps funds more than 120 camps across the U.S. and Canada.
KOA President and CEO Toby O’Rourke said she is proud to stand with Care Camps.
“Our partnership underscores the deep-rooted values of compassion and community that define both organizations,” she said. “Together, we will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of children living with cancer and their families.”
