This news was well received by both the U.S. and Chinese financial markets. Although the two countries agreed to reduce tariffs on each other’s goods for now, many of the issues that initiated the trade war in 2018 are yet to be resolved.
During Phase 1 of the agreement, Washington is canceling further planned tariff increases. China reciprocated by committing to purchase more American farm goods. China also agreed to deal with complaints regarding technology policies.
