Seventeen years after founding Iola, Kansas, machine shop M & W Manufacturing in 1979, Neil Westervelt started making racing automobile parts. He manufactured aluminum reduction pulleys after his employees went home for the day, which led to NSA RV Product’s original name, Night Shift Auto.

Months later, Ready Mix Concrete’s owner John Franklin asked Westervelt to build his product idea: ReadyBrake, a supplemental brake system that is today one of NSA RV’s best-selling products. Mere months after ReadyBrake’s success, Westervelt bought Franklin’s patent rights in 1996. The same year, he also bought tow bar manufacturer P&E Industries.

In 2000, Neil Westervelt hired his son Tod Westervelt to manage Night Shift Auto. When Neil Westervelt retired in 2008, Tod Westervelt and his wife Stacey bought Night Shift Auto and renamed it NSA RV Products, shifting the company’s focus toward the RV market. Today, NSA RV offers tow bars and related accessories, drop hitches, hitch extensions, de-rattlers and de-fusers.
