History
On October 20th, 2011, Keystone Automotive entered the RV industry by acquiring Northwest Trailer Parts (NTP). Greg Boyd was NTP’s president at the time.
“This is a terrific example of how Keystone can leverage its strong logistics and distribution capabilities to offer dealers in the RV and hitching and towing industries our unique value proposition,” said Ed Orzetti, then president and CEO of Keystone Automotive. “This acquisition rapidly expands our growing customer base and our product portfolio in the RV industry.” Jacob Kotzubei, Partner, Platinum Equity, whose team led the acquisition on behalf of Keystone Automotive, said, “We are delighted to assist Keystone Automotive and its management team execute on their desired diversification and growth plans so quickly after becoming the majority shareholder.”
NTP President Greg Boyd said, “The sale is a positive outcome in our continuing efforts to seek new strategies, new regional markets and additional capital in order to better serve our customers and to stay competitive in our market.”
On October 7, 2014, Justin Jude, then president of Keystone Automotive Operations Inc., announced the acquisition of Atlanta-based distributor Stag-Parkway Inc., which at the time was the largest aftermarket wholesale distribution company serving the RV industry.
In 1989, Stag acquired HRC’s Parkway Distributors and became Stag-Parkway Inc. The distributor was subsequently acquired many times, first by Greenbriar Equity Group, then by Ares Capital Corp. Linsalata Capital Partners purchased Stag-Parkway prior to the Keystone Automotive Operations acquisition in 2014.
Stag-Parkway, was founded in 1968 by Ted and Ann Kaplan, along with George and Shirley Kaufman. Ted Kaplan was enshrined in the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 1997 and passed away in 2019. Ted Kaplan worked at the company until he retired. The Kaplans were followed by their son-in-law Stan Sunshine who grew the company significantly before it was eventually sold to private equity. Under the new private equity ownership, Stag-Parkway was led by a new president, Martin Street, who over saw it until Stag-Parkway was sold to Keystone Automotive.
“LKQ Corp.’s subsidiary Keystone Automotive Operations, Inc. and it’s NTP Distribution business is pleased to announce that it has acquired Stag-Parkway, a distributor of specialty parts in the RV market in the U.S. and Canada,” Jude said at the time. “We look forward to welcoming Stag-Parkway’s customers, employees and suppliers to Keystone Automotive. Customers will receive many benefits from this combination as a result of Keystone’s and NTP’s extensive distribution network and depth of inventory.”
Keystone Automotive then acquired The Coast Distribution System on July 9, 2015 from Coast majority owner Tim McGuire. The deal was finalized in Q3 of that same year.
Bill Rogers became NTP-Stag’s president of NTP-Stag during the company reorganization following the Coast Distribution’s acquisition.
Today, NTP-Stag is a distribution network with more than 25 million square feet of warehousing and a fleet of more than 650 vehicles. The company carries more than 185,000 different products from more than 800 suppliers.
