In 1974, the Trailer Coach Association merged with the Recreation Vehicle Institute to form the RV Industry Association (RVIA). Both organizations started a few years previous as some of the first to develop RV standards.

Today, the RV Industry Association represents around 500 RV manufacturers and suppliers that produce 98 percent of all RVs in the U.S. RVIA members have to meet over 500 safety requirements to maintain status.

Aside from maintaining safety practices, the RVIA also keeps the industry informed on data trends, industry news and other insights. They work with federal and state lawmakers and focus on growing the RV consumer market. With offices in Reston, Virginia and Elkhart, Indiana, the RVIA is the leading voice of the $114 billion RV industry.
