When Tom Dempsey started SylvanSport in 2004, he wanted a compact, comfortable trailer, a crossover product to transfer gear while simultaneously providing a luxurious sleeping space. Dempsey recruited Kyle Mundt, who previously designed control rooms, and Tom Reeder,a mountain bike component builder, to begin the company in Brevard, North Carolina.
Their first product, the Go Adventure Camper, was built by Mundt and Reeder in 2007 and transformed from a cargo holder to a pup tent camper. It only weighs 840 pounds, compared to the industry 2,500-pound camper weight limit. SylvanSport followed the Go Adventure camper with 2015’s 253-pound Go Easy kayak utility trailer. Similar to the Go Adventure, this camper has front-end storage and waterproof wiring in the back so it can be unloaded in the water.
Though it launched in March 2019, SylvanSport started developing the Vast camper in 2014, using its previous Go series as inspiration. The company most recently announced its Go Like a Pro camper with GOzeebo, a portable screen room and tent that integrates with sleeping quarters.
