A long-time leader will depart from Cummins this fall.

Cummins Senior Vice President Tony Satterthwaite will close his 36-year-long career this year. He plans to retire in September.

Satterthwaite led the power supplier through growth periods and 2020-2023 challenges.

Cummins Chairman and CEO Jennifer Rumsey said Satterthwaite supported the supplier innovating, expanding and evolving its methods.

She said Satterthwaite “realized early on that investing in our people and allocating the resources to build strong, capable leaders would give Cummins a competitive advantage—and it has.”

Satterthwaite joined Cummins in 1988 and held sales, regional and business leadership roles within the company. He led sales and product planning in Cummins’ off-highway engine business. He then moved to Singapore where he led Cummins’ Southeast Asia region.

Satterthwaite spent years in the company’s power generation business. He became president of the business, where he oversaw growth and profitability. He led product launches, including the 95-liter Hedgehog engine into the power generation market. He expanded Cummins’ power generation offerings internationally.

After this period, he held positions including distribution businesses president. He led the company in his roles as Cummins president and chief operating officer, vice chairman and senior vice president.

Satterthwaite serves on the Idex Corp. Board of Directors. He served as a Cornell Engineering Advisory Council member and a National Association of Manufacturers board member.

Rumsey said, “Tony’s more than three decades of visionary leadership with Cummins has produced a lasting impact on our company and our people, helping lay the strong foundation that supports our future growth and success.”
