A new report from Baird and the RVDA found that RV dealers are feeling better about the market’s current conditions than they were a month earlier.
The September Baird RV Dealer Sentiment Index found dealers’ sentiment on current conditions at 52, up from a 33 score the previous month.
The index is an outgrowth of Baird’s monthly retail dealer survey, conducted for RVDA members. A score of more than 50 indicates positive outlooks, Baird Senior Research Analyst Craig Kennison said.
The index’s 3-5 year outlook also improved, registering a 59 in September, up from a 56 in August and 51 in July.
The positive current outlook appears to be the first time since the summer of 2022 that the current conditions index topped 50. Survey results from July 2022 through July 2023 are unavailable.
The 3-5 year outlook appears to be at its highest mark since early 2023.
Current and future RV dealer sentiment was broadly positive from the spring of 2020 until the end of 2021. The future outlook rebounded by the summer of 2022 to be positive. The current outlook bottomed out in the late spring of 2022 and again in early summer of 2023.
RVDA is dedicated to advancing RV dealers’ interests through education, member services, industry leadership, and market expansion programs that promote the increased sale and use of RVs and enhance the positive image of the RV experience, RVDA said.
