Dometic completed its acquisition of mobile power supplier Zamp Solar, which makes solar solutions for the outdoor market.
In 2020, Zamp Solar’s sales were approximately $14 million. Dometic stated the transaction will broaden the company’s position in the mobile solar power market. The acquisiton was effective May 26.

In addition to positioning Dometic at the forefront of vehicle electrification trends, mobile power solutions also address the critical need for people using powered products when experiencing the outdoor lifestyle. Our strategy for profitable expansion in mobile living is built on a combination of organic and acquisitive growth.”
Vargues said the purchase represents Dometic’s fifth acquisition this year and a potential for future transactions “remains strong.”
Founded in 2010, Zamp Solar is based in Bend, Oregon, with more than 400 active customers. The company serves vertical-end markets in the outdoor space. Zamp Solar stated its products are known for using recycled materials, including solar panels, charge controllers, power boxes and various solar kits.
Zamp Solar has 50% of its net sales in service and aftermarket, with nearly 65 employees.
Dometic stated expansion in the mobile power solution market is a strategic priority for the company. The market demand for sustainable and effective off-grid mobile power solutions is rapidly increasing, Dometic stated, as more people spend time outdoors using a vehicle or boat.
The acquisition is fully financed via cash on hand. Transaction price was not disclosed. Zamp Solar will be reported as part of Dometic’s Americas segment.
