Dometic Navigates Tariff Turbulence in Q1 Report

Amid the tariff difficulties affecting many RV industry businesses, Dometic said it is well positioned in the U.S. going forward.

The supplier hosted a first quarter results webinar where President and CEO Juan Vargues touched on Dometic’s position as tariff tensions rise.

He said since the company has a wide geographical footprint with nine production facilities in the U.S., Dometic is well positioned from a competitive perspective.

However, Vargues said, “It is difficult to predict how the current uncertain macroeconomic situation and market conditions will impact demand, particularly in the short term.”

As the ongoing trade war leads to higher consumer uncertainty and lower demand, Dometic’s first quarter financial results reflect the change.

Land Vehicles net sales were down 12.3% from the first quarter of 2024, but sales in the Americas segment were flat from the first quarter of 2024.

Mobile Cooling Solutions’ net sales were down 4% from the first quarter of 2024. Operating profits rose 8.8% in the first quarter of 2025 from a year earlier.

Vargues said Dometic’s Mobile Cooling Solutions business showed resilience supported by its product offering and new product launches.

Even though a large part of Dometic’s products for the RV industry has protection under the existing North American free trade agreement (USMCA), Vargues said the company continues to be exposed to the tariff effects.

“We have acted quickly and are implementing surcharges to offset any negative cost impact,” Vargues said, “while at the same time reviewing our supply chain setup to minimize the go-forward impact.”

With tariff measures up in the air, Vargues said, “it is important to control what we can control and remain flexible short term to be able to adapt to possible changing market developments.”
