Dometic Corp.’s service division will partner with the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) before launching a pilot program in Orlando, Florida.
Dometic Service will send trained technicians directly to customers who experience a Dometic product breakdown. The certified mobile RV technicians will operate in company-branded vans to serve RV owners at campgrounds or elsewhere on the road.
“Our goal is to get help to our customers as quickly as we can if they ever experience a problem with one of our products,” said Jay Vaarre, Dometic Service director. “We are branding the tech teams as ‘Your mobile RV and outdoor care specialists.’”
Dometic manufacturers several OEM and aftermarket products, including refrigerators, air conditioners, vents, awnings, portable coolers and freezers. The company plans to staff its service vans or work with mobile RV technicians as independent contractors.
“We want our end-users to be outdoors enjoying our products, not waiting to get their equipment serviced in the event of a breakdown,” Vaarre said.
Before technicians join the mobile service group, they will receive NRVTA training.
“Dometic is looking forward to working with NRVTA to continue education not only for our technicians but also for customers who know how to use their rigs – or need to know how to use them,” Vaarre said.
Putting technician teams on the road is never as easy as it seems, Vaarre said. He said technicians need to be skilled at diagnosing and repairing Dometic equipment and have a thorough understanding of an RV as a system.
“We are pleased Dometic chose to have their company technicians trained at our school,” said Terry “Cooper” Cooper, NRVTA president. “These elite technicians will be on Dometic’s frontline to help cut down service times and improve customer experience to ensure enjoy even better satisfaction when using the company’s products.”
